What to Consider When Seeking RV Storage

Is the lot well-lit and are the grounds taken care of regularly? These details, no matter how small they seem, are all important aspects to consider. There are many reasons to choose The Safe Lot to store your recreational vehicle, let's take a look at some of the benefits listed below.

Benefits of RV Storage at The Safe Lot of Melbourne, Florida

There are a variety of reasons why RV or camper storage is essential for some owners and even if you do not need to rent a storage space, the benefits far outweigh the potential issues that can arise from simply leaving it parked on your property or some other location.

  • More Space at Home – The average residential property simply doesn’t offer the space needed to store your RV, 5th wheel trailer, camper, etc. These vehicles range greatly in size and require a lot of room for storage. Recreational vehicles can range from approximately 8 to 40 feet in length and 8 to 14 feet in height. Even if your RV will fit in your driveway, in the garage, or on the property it could get in the way of vehicles that you and your family use more frequently. By utilizing The Safe Lot for RV storage, you will not only free up space at home but also have peace of mind knowing it is secure.
  • Avoid Neighborhood Ordinance /HOA Penalties – Many neighborhoods have specific rules or covenants that often prohibit any RV or trailer parking for extended periods of time. Some neighborhoods only allow an RV to be parked for 24 hours or less in the driveway or on the property. Renting RV storage allows you to own the vehicle of your dreams while not interfering with your HOA.
  • Convenience & Easier Travel – If you don’t have a gigantic garage or yard, storing your RV on your property can be a difficult issue. Storing your RV at The Safe Lot will save you the stress of figuring out where and how to park your vehicle, and save you time so you don’t have to check for theft. Whether you choose to store your vehicle for a short period of time or a longer period of time, it’s never been easier.
  • Security Features – The Safe Lot is well-lit during nighttime hours. The property is also surrounded by a gate and has gate access for renters 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Theft Prevention – Whether you have a small/lightweight RV, mid-sized RV, large RV, 5th wheel trailer, or a pop-up camper, it’s safe with us. A Property that is surrounded by a gate which requires gate access for entry and is well maintained and illuminated throughout the darkness of night offers peace of mind. Exterior Protection - Depending on the length of time you will be storing your RV; you will want to take precautionary steps to ensure your RV is protected. One suggestion is to thoroughly wash and wax the exterior of the vehicle. Washing and waxing will help to eliminate damage that can result from prolonged sun exposure. You could also use an RV cover, specifically designed for whichever model you own.

Interior Protection – A few quick tips for interior protection include; covering the windows, cleaning, and conditioning the materials/furniture. Decreasing the humidity by using Damp Rid or placing a bucket or container of silica gel packets or charcoal in a few places throughout the RV to absorb moisture. To ensure there is proper ventilation throughout the RV while not in use, make sure the air vents are open, and then covered with a thinner mesh screen to keep out pesky insects.

Mechanical Protection – A few tips to protect the tires and engine components include but are not limited to; using tire covers. Turn off or disconnect every electrical element inside the RV to prevent the battery from completely draining. Another tip is to ensure the leveling jacks are down. This next tip is one of the most important and concerns the fuel and thus, the engine in its entirety. If you will be storing your RV for a month or longer you will need to ensure the fuel tank is filled and that you add stabilizer, doing so will prevent problems with engine parts due to deteriorating fuel.
